Inserting multiple values from json or key=value properties?

I have a web server with a api/state call that returns json with several metrics (state, memory, threads, transactions, build version, etc.)... They are also available in an app_state.properties file that I write to disk periodically.  What is the best way get these custom properties into your system via the Anturis agent? The app is written in java.
