how to determine if windows server is up when it is behind a firewall

We have a number a server behind a firewall and would like to know when/if it goes down. Port forwarding from outside is not an option here unfortunately. Is it possible to achieve some other way through local agent monitors? We tried to setup ping of an outside resource but when server went down Anturis simply marked local agent as unavailable. Thank you.

Hi,

Actually, with local agent you will receive alerts when server with agent go down but it will be after about 5 minutes.

In case you can allow to ping your server from inside there is the better way. Need to setup agent for one of your server which can ping other servers and create ping monitor with this agent

We only have one server inside.

In this case only one local monitor helps. Do not forget set 1 minutes interval and status rule 1 of 1 for the monitor to speedup alerting process.
