False positives.

FrontlineSMS 9 years ago updated by Ilya (Here to help) 9 years ago 2
Hello,

We are at the moment evaluating Anturis as a possible replacement for our current uptime and transaction monitoring tool.

For the last about 3 weeks we have been getting downtime alerts that we have now taken to be false positives because of the following reasons.
  • The uptime monitoring tool that we are trying to replace never reports downtime when Anturis reports the supposed downtimes.
  • Manually simulating the failing transactions that were reported by Anturis to not succeed was succeeding.
  • No user complaint was ever received during the duration of the supposed downtime.

We so far like Anturis but are starting to get afraid if it reports false positives at this rate. I am wondering if this is something that you know of or have fixed in the past or are looking to fix.

Regards,
Ivan.

Hi Ivan,

As I see our monitoring reports you that it gets periodically 503 status:

It is the real issue. Did you check your apache log files?

Also I see you received error 'The target host or service is down or unreachable from this location'. Sometimes can be a connectivity issue between our data-center and yours. I can recommend to use 2 locations in one monitor.
